Back to Live Performances

A Chorus Line
Country Playhouse
1996

Honestly, this is probably the only time I'll ever get to do this show! It was so much fun. One of the greatest musicals to watch or perform. I played Al--the one whose wife "could never really sing". The actress playing her was JJ Bennett, and she was incredible to work with. In the bottom picture is me with Jessica Calvello, one of the funniest people on the planet. In fact, the cast was filled with people that I am friends with to this day.

Runaways
Masquerade Theatre
1997

This is a cool musical that deserves an update and revival. If you love Rent and Spring Awakening, you will love this. I played Eddie. This was Masquerade's first production.

Little Shop of Horrors
Atomic Cafe
1998

Seymour is my role, but it was a blast having a go at another fun bunch of characters in one of my favorite musicals. I played the Dentist and all those bit parts along that track.

Tent Meeting
A.D. Players

1999

I had a wonderful time doing the US Premiere of this play with music. Well, it was a musical to me! Just full of gorgeous 4-part harmonies. I played Pastor Douglas and Ben.

The Magic Journey
Children's Theatre Festival
2000

This was my second World Premiere with Jerry Bock, and it was a lot of fun! I played a kid named Davy.

Snoopy
St. Luke's United Methodist Church
2000

I love playing Linus. And, now I've played him in both musicals. I even wore the same costume I wore in high school. I sometimes wear that shirt for Halloween.

Inn Bethlehem
St. Luke's United Methodist Church
2000

I love doing World Premieres and this is one of them. I had a great time playing a couple of supporting characters, including the villain!

Follies
Bayou City Concert Musicals
2001

It was a joy being in the first of this series' concerts (benefitting The Center for AIDS: Hope & Remembrance Project). The cast was made up of some of the Houston theatre scenes biggest legends. We performed on the Alley Theatre's main stage, which was also a huge thrill. Lucky for me, it wouldn't be the last time I got to perform there.

Breaking the Code
Unhinged Productions
2001

I played the minor role of John Smith in this play about Alan Turing (who just recently (2009) received an apology for what the British government did to him regarding his homosexuality). It was a good thing it was a minor role as I was in a slightly similar position as the famous Elaine Stritch story: I was an understudy for A Flea In Her Ear at the Alley Theatre across town. Fortunately, both theatres allowed me to do both projects. Particularly as both were paying gigs!

Before the Parade Passes By!
Houston Pride Committee
2002

This was the first pride cabaret and I performed in a bunch of numbers and a skit that I wrote.

The Eight: Reindeer Monologues
2002

This was a fun show to do. I played Comet, and I beat the hell out of a Christmas tree everynight. This was also my last play in Houston before moving to NYC.

Hello & Goodbye
The Living Room of MaryScott Hagle and Daniel Kornberg
2003

This was my farewell cabaret before moving to NYC. It was a nice way to say goodbye. MaryScott and Daniel liked having living room concerts and it made for a great setting.
